Towards assimilating and implementing the 4 Universal Apostolic Preferences of the whole Society of Jesus in the next ten years (2019-2029), one of which is journeying with the youth, the Jesuit parish of Hien Linh (of Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saigon-HCM City) held a talk on child sexual abuse on Sunday, September 29th 2019. The talk for children and adolescents (approximately ages 10 to 15) by Dr. Joseph Quang-Chinh Le took place in the Province’s conference hall. He talked about psychophysiology of the age of puberty in general, child sexual abuse and its prevention. A mass for them was celebrated after the talk.

It seems that the talk was in response to the reality of child sexual abuse in Vietnam today. According to Tuoitre Online News (March 14th  2017), in the last three years, an average of 1,000 cases have been reported in Vietnam every year, so one more child is sexually abused every 8 hours. In the same year of 2017, the Jesuit Province of Vietnam issued (1) guidelines in protection of children, adolescents, the youth, and vulnerable adults and also (2) a protocol on sexual abuse of them.
