On the first day of the meeting, Fr. Michael Truong Thanh Tam, SJ, gave a presentation about the process of planning the 2021-2030 Province’s Apostolic Plan. Then, Fr. Peter Truong Van Phuc, SJ, summarized the plan of action in which he introduced the new structure of governance of the Province to participants. The new apostolic structure of the Province includes 4 sections: Formation Section, Apostolate Section, Education Section, and Resource Development Section.
After their personal prayer and discernment, the participants shared their thoughts and reflections on the following questions:
On the second day, on behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Ignatian Year, Fr Joseph Pham Thanh Liem, SJ, shared information about pastoral and spiritual activities which will be organized across the Province during the Ignatian Year. Then, Fr. Provincial Vincent Pham Van Mam, SJ, talked about the new structure of the Province’s apostolic governance. After a discussion about this new structure, the participants proposed Jesuit personnel and resource to work for the above-mentioned apostolic sections.
On the morning of the third day, Fr. Socius Andrew Pham Van Tu, SJ, explained the guidelines on the procedure for the election of delegates to join the 71st Congregation of Procurators convoked by Father General in 2022. According to Fr. Socius, there will be 25 participants elected from 139 members of the Province (who entered the Society since January 15, 2013) who will join a Provincial Congregation held this year. The procurator will be elected by this Provincial Congregation to join the Congregation of Procurators in 2022.
The 3-day meeting concluded with a Mass presided over by Fr. Provincial. In his homily, Fr. Provincial stressed the meaning of the spiritual union with God which helps the Jesuits to carry out God’s mission entrusted to the Society through the Church.
