June 21st, 2019 – It is considered that today is the feast day of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, an Italian Jesuit known for his courage in dedicating to the education of young people and in serving the dying. Moreover, he is also the patron of theological scholastics of saint Joseph Jesuit Scholasticate (SJJS). Therefore today, all of the scholastics of SJJS gather together to celebrate their feast.

The feast day begins with the official morning prayers and then a mass follows. In the homily, Fr. Charles Borges, the presider of the mass, emphasizes that according to the Gospel today (Mk 10:24b-30), to be associated with Jesus Christ is to accept to carry our own crosses and to be available for missions even persecutions. Any man or woman of God, including St. Aloysius Gonzaga, is invited to testify for this way of life. With a burning heart, St. Aloysius devoted himself to serve God through his services for young students and serious sicks. Fr. Charles also calls the scholastics to beg the Lord Jesus Christ to grant them a burning heart as the one of St. Aloysius so that they would be eager to proclaim the Gospel through their apostolic works.

Then in the afternoon, a football competition for all of members of SJJS is taken place at a small stadium nearby. The event is carried out in friendship and joy.

The feast day of St. Aloysius Gonzaga comes to pass with much spiritual fruits for each of the scholastics who are preparing themselves to be ready for future missions of the Society.
