Beside student summer retreats, the Student Ministry of the Vietnam Jesuit Province has also decided to adapt the Spiritual Exercises to a weekend’s directed retreat. During this retreat, retreatants are guided how to pray with the Scriptures, how to practice the Examen, and how to review their prayer experience. This retreat may be called “Busy Persons’ Retreat” but it doesn’t follow exactly the pattern of the Spiritual Exercises.
The purpose of a weekend’s retreat for busy persons is to help them to refresh their spiritual life and to deepen their relationship with God. Therefore, their retreat is more about “being” than doing. Retreatants will spend time each day in prayer and reflection and meet with their spiritual directors. They are also encouraged to enjoy individual leisure time like walking, writing spiritual diary, or praying the Rosary.
