Jesuit candidates of the Society of Jesus in Vietnam have started the new academic year with a 4-day program for re-energizing their mental and spiritual energy from 03-06 September 2020.
The Center for Ignatian Spirituality in Vietnam (CIS Vietnam) started the 2020-2021 academic year on Saturday, September 05, 2020 with a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Fr. Dominic Nguyen Duc Hanh, SJ, CIS Director, together with CIS’ staff, at a chapel of the Alexandre de Rhodes Jesuit Community in District 3, Hochiminh City.
It is with great joy that the Vietnamese Jesuits introduce the 14 candidates who entered the Vietnam Province of the Society of Jesus at the Sacred Heart Novitiate in Thu Duc, Hochiminh City on 31 July 2020.
Three men: Joseph Jia, SJ, Gu Min De, SJ, and Mu Ya Hung, Moye, were ordained to the diaconate and Rev. Joseph Dang Do Nhan, SJ, to the priesthood in Taiwan on 04 July 2020.
“Supplying Clean Water Sources and Purified Water” is a pastoral and social program organized by Caritas of Ha Tinh diocese in collaboration with the Social Apostolate Committee of the Society of Jesus in Vietnam. There are many water-filtration systems which have been set up on different parishes of Ha Tinh diocese to provide purified water for both Catholic and non-Catholic residents.
After completing two years at the Sacred Heart Novitiate of the Society of Jesus in Vietnam for the first stage of Jesuit formation, 13 novices took their first simple but perpetual vows on the Solemnity of Pentecost at the chapel of St. Joseph Jesuit Scholasticate in Thu Duc, Hochiminh City, Vietnam on May 31, 2020.
Joseph Do Quang Chinh, SJ Library is named after the late Reverend Do Quang Chinh, SJ, a Vietnamese Jesuit and historian who was the author of many distinguished historical works on history of the Jesuits in Vietnam and of the Vietnamese Catholic Church.
